A four hour workshop for 9 to 12 year olds
This fun, hands on workshop is designed to introduce children to using plants as food and medicine.
We will begin by doing a herb walk where we will be looking at, tasting and talking about common garden plants and weeds that can be used as food and medicine.
Then the children will have opportunity to make their own remedies. These include a medicinal vinegar, a herbal glycerine based cough syrup made with licorice, marshmallow and thyme, a chickweed and gotu cola gel for burns, bites and itches and a calendula ointment for cuts and scratches.
Each child will be given a beautiful workbook to draw pictures and make notes about of the plants we find. The workbook also has all the instructions for the things we will make so they can take it home and make their remedies again and again.
A nutritious gluten, dairy and nut free afternoon tea is provided.
